Program The Academic Knowledge Partner – AKP™ is a symbolic and collaborative partnership granted by BDA to academic institutions that contribute to the development, dissemination, or alignment of intellectual content related to the field of business development, in accordance with the BDA Body of Competence & Knowledge (BoCK™). This is a non-commercial recognition model that aims to foster synergy between higher education and professional practice.
➡️ While the partnership itself is free of charge, a non-refundable application review fee of €250 applies to initiate the evaluation process.

The Academic Knowledge Partner (AKP™) is a distinctive partnership track offered by the Business Development Association (BDA) to honor and collaborate with academic institutions—such as universities, colleges, and academic centers—that actively contribute to the advancement of business development knowledge, either directly or indirectly. This may include academic research, instructional design, public knowledge dissemination, or participation in conceptual development efforts aligned with BDA’s global standards.

The AKP™ partnership does not grant any commercial or instructional privileges, nor does it require an annual license. Instead, it functions as an honorary and intellectual acknowledgment of an institution’s role in shaping the thought leadership and academic foundations that support the business development profession globally.

Institutions may qualify for AKP™ status by demonstrating their involvement in:

  • Publishing or contributing to research in entrepreneurship, growth strategy, innovation, or enterprise development

  • Developing educational content that aligns with BDA-BoCK™ principles

  • Organizing academic events, think tanks, or forums centered around business advancement

  • Facilitating collaboration between academic knowledge and professional innovation

Upon acceptance, the institution receives the official AKP™ emblem, which may be used on institutional websites, publications, and official documentation. The institution will also be listed in the BDA’s Global Academic Knowledge Partner Directory as a recognized academic ally supporting the maturity of business development as a discipline.

While the partnership itself is free of charge, institutions are required to pay a non-refundable application review fee of €250.This fee covers the comprehensive evaluation process to ensure that all eligibility criteria and alignment standards are met before the partnership is approved.

The AKP™ model reflects BDA’s belief in the transformative power of academic insight and its vital role in evolving business ecosystems. It encourages stronger bridges between the academic and professional worlds, empowering institutions to influence policy, innovation, and capacity building through their unique intellectual contributions.
