FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
When does my recertification cycle start?
Your recertification cycle begins on the date you were originally certified. The cycle ends on the last day of the month, three years after your certification date. You can view your exact cycle dates in the BDA Certification Portal.
What happens if I miss my recertification deadline?
A 60-day grace period follows your cycle end date, subject to additional late fees. If you fail to renew within the grace period, your certification will be permanently cancelled and you must reapply as a new candidate.
Can I carry over excess PDCs to the next cycle?
No. PDCs earned in one recertification cycle cannot be carried over to the next cycle. Each 3-year cycle requires a fresh 60 PDCs to be earned and recorded.
What types of activities qualify for PDCs?
Qualifying activities include: BDA-approved training programs and workshops, webinars and conferences focused on business development, BDA Membership activities, accredited instructor-led or self-study programs from BDA-PDP™ partners, and strategic BD projects within your organisation. Each verified training hour equals 1 PDC.
How do I get an Activity Code for my training?
Activity Codes are issued by BDA-approved Professional Development Providers (PDPs). Always request the Activity Code from your training provider before or immediately after completing the program. Without this code, PDCs cannot be recorded automatically in the portal.
Can I recertify by retaking the exam instead of earning PDCs?
Yes. You may choose to retake the BDA certification exam at the same level (BDA-CP™ or BDA-SCP™) as an alternative to earning 60 PDCs. Passing the exam grants a new 3-year certification cycle. However, failure to pass results in certification revocation.
