Official competency definition

The discipline that converts agreement into sustainable partnership value.

Negotiation and relationship management are where the strategic and interpersonal aspects of business development converge. Negotiation is the process of reaching an agreement with another party, while relationship management is the ongoing process of maintaining and growing the value of that relationship after the agreement is reached. They are two sides of the same coin: a successful negotiation lays the foundation for a successful long-term relationship.
